Good read.
How can I describe the uselessness of this book? Maybe by saying something like the author may have had a huge pile of high school history textbooks, and just copied what they said. This is shallow stuff. Any really important issues he dances around - if he mentions them at all.
I think I paid 20 cents for this at the last Library Book Sale, and that was too much.
I found myself engrossed in this narrative.
There are some biases that any author would have but they are far overridden by the content and setting of this narrative.
The descriptions of the events and people herein were present in great and wonderful detail.
A good sequel to "The Vinyard of Liberty". Lacks discussion of political events following the Civil War and focuses on the social/industrial changes of the late 19th C. The first book was riveting. This one, less so.
